A little bit about me

Hey all! My name is Hannah Rogers and I am from a small town in the finger lakes area. I graduated from high school in 2017 and then I immediately went into college afterward. Right now, I am currently finishing up my 2 years at Finger Lakes Community College and will be graduating in May of 2019! I just recently got recruited to the University at Jamestown in Jamestown, North Dakota. They contacted my coach and wanted to sign me into their track and field program. They are gathering my information now in hopes of giving me a grant and scholarships to continue my career there. Long story short, I did plan on continuing at the University at Buffalo: major in Graphic Design with a minor in Fine Arts and Marketing. But, I plan on taking my portfolio and applying to the college of New Paltz in hopes to start there in the spring of 2020 or later on.

My goal growing up was to become one of many. I wanted to continue drawing and expressing myself through art, rather it is photography, drawing, or through Adobe programs. Whatever the case, I did not want to stop. I found myself drawn into the world of a Graphic Designer because I was fixed on the art of creating designs for magazines or posters.

When I first started in my major, I realized that my work was not favorable. My work was not to the best of my ability, but that’s why I continue to do what I do. The more concentrated I am and the more I learn, the better the outcome will be. I now know my strengths and better equipped to do bigger, greater things. Getting the feedback and help from my peers made me the Graphic Designer I am today.

I often find myself looking back on my work and asking if there is anything I would change or do better. But to be fair, I would not want to change most, if not anything, of my work. Starting from the beginning and moving forward, I can see myself progress in my field and can see where I still need work.

A lot of designers are often times fixated on certain themes, but for me, I am still exploring. I find myself being modern, but also authentic. Sometimes chic, other times minimalist. Whichever the case, I am unique and still growing.
